First off, quick little history of beer.

Hi, my name is Jason Lowry and I absolutely love beer.  Since I love beer so much I decided to do some research around the world, and cultures where they come from.  Each day I am going to post a new beer that I come across with some information on it and if possible a link of where to buy them.

Obviously most people know about the domestic beers in the United States but what about the ones Heard Round the World?  I mean I know a lot about the beers I have had across the country but around the world?  Nobody knows how many different brands, types, or styles of beer there are out there in the world.  Hopefully this blog will help all of you, along with myself to learn more about the beers Heard Round the World

Beer is proclaimed the most widely consumed alcoholic beverage in the world and is the third most popular drink overall after water and tea.  Beer is produced by the saccharification of starch and fermentation of the sugar.  The starch and enzymes come from malted cereal grands like barley and malted wheat.  The flavor of beer comes from the hops and when hops are added, bitterness kicks in and helps preserve the beer.  Other herbs and fruit are sometimes added to get different flavors.

Most beers range from 4%-6% in alcohol content but there are also beers that vary between .5% and 15%.  The earliest known evidence of beer dates back to 3500-3100 BC from the Zagros Mountains in Iran.  It is crazy how one simple invention has stuck around for thousands of years and is still today making people extremely satisfied.  So go on, grab a beer and enjoy the site!
